Twisted Trousers Pattern Release and Sale

Despite promising myself NO pattern testing for the first half of this year, I just couldn’t resist the latest release from Titchy Threads.  Sewing promises are made to be broken!

If you’ve been following for a while you’ll know I’m a massive fan of Laura’s patterns.  Twisted tank, Rowan tees 1, 2, 3, Skinny Jeans 1 & 2

I’ve made up quite a variety of indie kids patterns over the years and in my opinion few match the quality of design, fit and instructions that I find with Titchy Threads.  When you’re onto a good thing, stick with it I say!

So yes, between work, kids, study, sewing classes and reno plans I managed to squeeze a spare five minutes to whip up a couple of pairs of these gorgeous pants and here they are!

This is actually the second pair I made but I’m showing them first because after the first round of testing, a couple of issues were picked up by the testers about the fit.  So Laura took them back to the drawing board and came back to us with the second version.  Hurrah!  The fit is perfect!

They’re slim enough to be fashionable, but with enough room to move.

I loved being able to use a fun knit to jazz up the waistband.

Due to time, I whipped up this pair in a sweat fleece with no pockets, which is actually kind of helpful as these will most likely end up kindy pants and pockets only means sand in my washing machine!  This also made them SUPER quick to make – from printing the pattern to finished in about 2 hours.  That has GOT to be some sort of record for me!

I’d already cut this first pair when the fit issues were discovered by the testers so I decided to sew them up anyway.  See how they’re kind of baggy around the hips compared with the fleece ones?  This has all been fixed up in the final version of the pattern.

Despite that, I’m still happy with them.  The pockets really dress them up and the knit waistband makes them super easy for self-dressing.

For the fabric I used a cargo drill and a lightweight denim (stars).  The waistband is a grey rib knit.

The pattern also comes with a reversible option which will be great for winter and adding piping really accentuates the twist – I’ll definitely be adding piping into the next pair!

Laura is offering 25% off all her patterns until the 11th of March so if you’re thinking about trying this pattern, now is a great time – just check out her blog post here for details on the discount.  While you’re there check out the watermelon pants.  Seriously. WATERMELON pants!!!

Happy sewing!

Those sweatshirt trousers look so comfy, I still need to make some like that for my boys. Great colour too! The star pair is really cool too, I love the combination of the print and the solid. I’m very glad you found the time to test for me – thanks for all your help 🙂
