Well I was a day late sewing up my final Kids Clothes Week project but all up I’m super happy with last week’s efforts – four fun but useful wardrobe staples for my boys and loads of great sewing and new skills learned.
These Dinosaur Cords were made using the Classic Chinos pattern (affiliate link), the same pattern I used for the outfit I made him for my friend’s wedding last month. While I think these pattern instructions could do with a bit more information in places, I really like the cut of these pants which is why I went back for a second pair. If you’ve sewn a few pairs of pants before then you shouldn’t have any troubles.
I had the corduroy fabric in my stash so was pleased to be able to use it up but when I cut out the pattern, I felt like the colour was going to end up a bit bland for a rambunctious 3 year old. That’s where the dinosaurs came in! By adding the dinosaur knee patches plus the contrast fabric details in the front and back pockets I think I’ve successfully turned an otherwise pretty basic pair of pants into something much more fun! What do you think?
Did you check out my other projects from last week? A pair of flannelette Bob the Builder winter PJs, a pair of Small Fry Skinny Jeans and a cute Bimaa sweater for the little guy. I honestly can’t choose which is my favourite!
So after such a busy week of sewing, I’m gearing up for another one in just two weeks time! Selfish Sewing Week is being held from 28th April and I’ve got sooooo many things I want to make!! Is anyone else participating? If you’re after inspiration, check out my Sewing: Grown Up Girls Pinterest Board. I can’t wait!!
